Javonia is a Licensed Social Worker and Mental Health Consultant for the Office of School Health. After nearly a decade of direct service working with homeless, runaway youth, adults and various other underserved populations, Javonia transitioned into a role that focuses on shifting the culture and macro level policies and practices. This position has allowed Javonia to design and facilitate much needed conversations in schools about mental health, diversity/inclusion, cultural humility, crisis and stress management, trauma-informed practices and self-care. Javonia also facilitates agency-wide workshops on racial justice and workforce culture transformation. Javonia holds a MSW from Hunter College and a Master’s in Criminal Justice from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, where her interests include work at the intersection of both disciplines. Her passions include working out, cooking, random groupon activities, and traveling.
